About Estia
Estia is a native Mac app for writers who start from what they read. It gathers the sources you follow, helps you notice something worth writing about, and then gives you a calm, focused place to write it.
Start from what you read
Estia brings your RSS and Atom sources together as a pool of potential inspiration rather than an inbox to clear. It is deliberately a writing app, not a full RSS reader: the sources are there to help you find something worth writing about.
A focused place to write
A native macOS writing environment built around Markdown. Write a piece that grows out of a source, or a link post that points to something you’ve found. When it’s ready, you can publish to compatible services using Micropub.
Plain files, on your Mac
Your writing is saved locally as ordinary Markdown files, in a folder you choose. There’s no Estia account, and your writing isn’t uploaded to Estia servers.
A little help getting started
On supported Macs, Estia uses Apple Intelligence to suggest a structure for your writing when you need it. It only runs when you ask, and it gives you a broad outline to write within, not a finished article. The writing is still yours.
Availability
Estia is coming soon to the Mac App Store. It requires macOS 26 or later.
